Prewriting: Think about your writing
Choose a topic.
What text type are you writing (narrative, expository, persuasive, technical)
What is your purpose?
Who is your audience?
Collect details for your writing and organize your thoughts (use a graphic organizer or outline)
Writing: Get your Ideas on paper
After you have worked on prewriting (or brainstorming), start writing
Skip lines on your paper
Don't worry about making mistakes, you will fix them later.
Revising: Make it Better
Self Edit: Read your draft to yourself
Does it make sense?
What can you do to make it better?
Peer Edit: Read your draft to a friend.
What did your friend like?
What could use improvement?
Don't focus on conventions, you will work on this during editing.
Which traits are strong in your draft, which seem weak?
Make changes to your draft concentrating on the weakest trait.
Editing: Fix the Mistakes
